What is psychotherapy?
Talk therapy, mental health counselling, and psychotherapy are all common terms for the service I provide. Using a mix of teaching psychoeducation and skills, and applying interventions, I work as a team one on one with my clients to support them in achieving their mental health goals. For some, this can look more like supportive talk therapy, where the client does not need to have a mental health diagnosis or specific symptoms, but perhaps more general life goals they want to achieve. Others may prefer a more structured approach to specifically target symptom reduction and increase mental clarity and emotional wellness.
Most often I see a mix of both is most effect, with the process being driven by the client’s unique set of strengths, supports, and interests.
